Mesha turns 15!

This past weekend we celebrated Meshas 15th birthday. I can’t believe that 15 years ago I was a mother for the first time. Wow, how time flies. She has made me so proud and we are so blessed by her every day. Here are a few random pics we took after we went out for dinner. We took her and a few friends to Japanese Steak House. We had a good time, my brother and his wife were there, Stephan’s brother Randy and his wife Natalia, and my Dad was there. Everyone but Alana tried to catch shrimp, she just screamed several times:-) Mesha caught the most though, Stephan trained her well.

She has a good group of friends, they are all pretty close. We have them over a lot and they keep us young. Mesha has made some pretty good choices in her friends and I am so proud of her for it.

She has recently begum to seriously consider what she wants to do when she grows up. They had to register for sophomore classes this week so she had to make some choices. She loves science, so she decided to skip an elective next year and take biology and chemistry. This is something she and her science teacher worked out. She also has taken spanish since 7th grade, so she will be able to continue with it, and her senior year spanish will count as college credit. I think next year will be a tough year, but I think she is ready for it.

There was an line on her encore form that asked the students to write in their career path. She was getting ready to write the following before I stopped her:

Spy, like James Bond, in the early years not like James Bond now, the ones where he used the little ropes to slide down things, or volcanologist, paleontologist, missionary to other countries, biologist, veterinarian, maybe nurse or teacher.

She was basically going to write down what she had told her teacher in a meeting with him about choosing classes and career chioces. Most of the things she wants to be when we talk, are usually directly related to something she has seen on tv. I told her she needed to be an actress, so she could, in a way, get to do all of the crazy things she says she wants to do. She poo-poo’d that idea pretty quickly, though she has taken drama for two years in a row, she says it is only to get over her fear of public speaking. I think she needs to investigate singing, voice, etc. The girl can belt out a tune and knock your socks off if your lucky enough to be around when she’ll do it. But every time I suggest choir or choral she winces and gets an attitude on me. She says, “MOM, I DO NOT WANT TO DO THAT, that type of singing is exactly the opposite of anything I want to do!” Then she says she may consider some singing lessons, at that point I have usually given up and drop the subject.

So, for right now, we have her narrowed down to Biology/Spanish major, possibly music(viola), then she can either teach Biology or use it for the medical filed. Right now I think she is leaning towards teaching Biology.

Below is a video she and her friends made that night, I think is was supposed to be a rap, but it turned out more like a freak show, but they had a great time making it. :-)

Owen’s special talent

Owen took his diaper off while we were driving down the road the other day, I just happened to have my camera. A modern day Houdini…he was so pleased with himself when he finally got it all the way off. He then proceeded to pee himself and the carseat…

Ahhh, the joys of Motherhood. :-)

A Christmas story

I just had to share this picture of Emerie and tell a little story about the picture.

When I was wrapping presents about a week or so before Christmas, Emerie was so excited to see things going under the tree that she wanted to get involved. She ran to her room and brought out a few toys, one of which was a Barbie doll. I gave her some paper and tape and she wrapped up the Barbie from head to toe and put it under the tree. Christmas eve, when we opened presents, she starting jumping up and down asking me if she could open this gift. I said yes and when she opened the Barbie she couldn’t have been more excited. :-)

In our faces…

So the president is in the middle east, they are calling it an “Eight day mideast peace push”. Palestinian Hamas supporters in Gaza City aren’t so welcoming. They are burning pictures of him and our flag.

When I see the pictures of them burning our flag it saddens me. So many of our forefathers fought and died for that flag and what it represents. Religious freedom, democracy, our life. So many people come here seeking the kind of life that our flag represents, in fact people want our way of life so badly they will sneak in by the thousands just to get a taste of the American Dream.

I look at that burning flag and I see our faces, I see the 911 victims, I see my family and friends, I see America. It is an image I won’t soon forget. They want us out of there, they say Bush is a war criminal. Our guys are fighting and dying for the freedoms of their people. The concept is very hard for me to understand, I struggle with it. But I am not sure I want to let terrorism have its way over there, they want to control the world.

It will be very interesting to see the results of this “peace push”, and the upcoming election.

Tada

My random thoughts on this life are as follows:

Why hasn’t someone put Britney in a straight jacket yet? Help this person, somebody please. If I could get a chance at her here’s what I’d say:

1. Britney, you’ve lost your kids, get off the junk, buy a house in Montana somewhere away from any major metro area, take a few deep breaths, DON’T buy a tv OR radio, and in the spring plant a garden and some flowers. Cook your own meals, in other words, no hired help, and for heaven’s sake buy some clothes and put them on. Next, read, read a lot, classic literature and some bible. Maybe you can find yourself enough to salvage some relationship with your children. If you get your kids back, take them to your new home and give them bubble baths, play with play dough and bake cookies. After one year without the press and people around then you can go out and visit a bit but not for long, just a week or so, then it’s back to Montana, make sure you get to know the townspeople and learn about what it is like to make true friends and live a real life. If I could give you any employment advice I would say not to work in the entertainment industry ever again, they used you up, it left you hollow and now alone, you have to be your own best friend right now, you have to fight to overcome the obstacle that is your life, and in the end you will be glad you did. Get a job at the local coffee shop or hardware store, and when you are there, work hard.

I am not sure why I am so intrigued by this girl. I guess it just baffles me that someone with so much potential and financial backing can be so completely lost.

2. Why haven’t I written anything on my blog yet? I have had bloggers block, thinking that whatever I posted as my first of the New Year had to be so great that I just blew it off. As you can see I just decided to go with it and write whatever came to mind, really, it’s just another year people.

3. My New Years resolution…I resolve to try to find some things to really become resolved about. To think about resolutions in general and how they have impacted our society and my life personally, and to use resolve carpet cleaner should there be a spill that won’t respond to paper towels.

4. This election is going to be interesting.

5. And number five, the most random thought of all. That is it, just number five.

So glad to have this over and done. My first post of the year…stay tuned, the best is definitely yet to come. I hope.
