Today I was rocking Owen and reading him a quick story before nap-time. He just turned two and his vocabulary is increasing with each day. Maybe I am just more able to distinguish his words more than ever, but it is a bitter-sweet reality that my boy is growing up.
As I readied to lay him down I said, I love you, and he said with a smile more clearly than ever, “I yuv you too”! He siad it over and over again laughing and smiling. I laid him in his crib and covered him up with his special blanket and began to walk out of the room. He usually whines and cries for about a minute or two each time we lay him down. Today he sat up in bed and as I reached for the door he smiled and waved saying, “bye-bye mommy”.
My baby boy isn’t a baby anymore.
